About Blog

Hi my name's Holly and I am 13. I really want to help save the Arctic because it is melting. Scientists predict that in about ten years it will be gone if we keep the global warming up how it is. On this blog I will give small, but helpful tips on how you can help save the Arctic. I will also give you more reasons why you should help save it. Thankyou for reading!

Hello and sorry I haven't been on for a while. We probably can't stop the melting of the arctic but maybe we can slow it down. I don't want to show children a picture of a polar bear in 20 years time and them to be fascinated that there used to be such things as bears that were white! I don't want the arctic to become a historical land where white animals roamed and it was colder than anything and is used in fairy tales. I don't think that you want that too. If everybody tries to make a little difference, just turning the lights off when you leave the house or not using the car as much, a big difference can be made to how long we can say the arctic exists.

Here are some small tips on how you can help save the arctic

- Turn off your lights when you don't need them on (it helps a lot!)

- Don't drive your car when it's not that far away to your destination (you can walk or ride your bike e.t.c!)

- Get other people to do the same!

And much more.

Did you know that the only place that polar bears can live is in the Arctic so if it melts they will become extinct! And it's not just polar bears other animals too live on the arctic. Like walruses, seals and much more.

Flick The Switch!

Just flick the switch please!

Here is a little story from the movie 'Into the Arctic": "A Polar Bear swam for 9 days without stopping, just so she could find ice land. She had a cub, it sadly didn't make it but luckily the mother did. They were looking for a new home because in their old home all the ice had melted. Many Polar Bears have to do that. Some make it safely, but for others it can be a swim to nowhere."
The reason the ice is melting is because of humans, how we use heaps of brown coal and petrol.
